political cartoon

Speaker: A republican and an unemployed business man. (The author is probably a democrat.

Subject: The current situation of many unemployed business men in the economic crisis, and showing how ignorant the republicans are about what’s going on.

Audience: People in the same situation as the unemployed man

Logos: there are no real facts in this cartoon, but the author is trying to send a message that the republican is oblivious to the economic crisis, and that many people are being affected by the situation.

Ethos: The author that made this cartoon has been making political cartoons since 1986, and has had other work featured in museums which gives him a lot of credibility.

Pathos: The man is a well dressed unemployed business man who is in the same situation as a lot of other unemployed Americans so he is able to relate to them.

Something that really stands out in this cartoon is the way the unemployed man is dressed. He is wearing a suit which symbolizes that he was a business man. His response to the elephant is the same of many other business men .
